How to Change the Code on a Ghost 2 Immobiliser

You change the code on a Ghost 2 Immobiliser by first putting in your present code. The procedure can only be done in a de-immobilised state – this makes sense otherwise a thief could do it!

Once disarmed you put your foot hard on the accelerator and enter your present code again. The Ghost is now in programming mode and waiting for your button presses. The indicators lights on the dash will flash once every 3 seconds continuously until finished.

It is worth designing your button sequence in advance so you are ready to perform the task.

Enter a new button, and the indicators will flash to recognise this, it will then flash again every 3 seconds. This two types of flash patterns can be a bit strange so just enter the next button and carry on. The aim here is to input the new code in a steady, once every second manor, until finished.

The minimum number of buttons is four, however you can enter more for extra security. Just remember entering too many buttons can become a tedious chore each time you start the car.

When finished pause. The indicators will flash back 3 times. Now enter your new code again to lock in your new code.

Then it will flash twice.

Remove your foot from the accelerator.

How to Change the Code on a Ghost 2 Immobiliser Guide:

1. Put in your present code to de-immobilise Ghost.
2. Put foot hard on accelerator (not JLR*) and keep it there throughout.
3. Enter your new code steadily (1 push per second).
4. Once finished pause.
5. Indicators flash back 3 times.
6. Enter your new code again
7. Indicators flash back 2 times.
8. Remove foot from accelerator.

*For JLR, in most cases, swap putting the foot on the accelerator with pulling the high beam towards you and holding it throughout the procedure.

If you muck up the sequence simply start again – from the beginning.

If the indicators flash 4 times, instead of 2, then this means the new code entered twice does not match. Simply start again.

Changing the Ghost code cannot be rushed and if you follow the guidelines, and go steady, it is not difficult.

However, it is up to you to remember the new code for restarting the car.

If you forget the code, then the override code provided on the black card can be used to disable the immobiliser. You should keep a copy of this safe for emergencies.

If you forget your code and do not have the override code then the Ghost will need to be removed and replaced.

This procedure applies to most cars. However for some cars, instead of putting your foot on the accelerator you may need to continuously hold the high beam, or continuously hold the hazard switch. This information would have been given when the Ghost was installed.
