Is The Ghost 2 Thatcham Approved

The Ghost 2 Immobiliser is not a Thatcham Approved. It should not be confused with a Thatcham Approved, ‘Category 2: Electronic Immobiliser’. They are simply not the same thing.
The Government backed MIRRC based in Thatcham, classifies vehicle security products for car Insurance companies to use. Thatcham simply do not have a category available for the Ghost 2 Immobiliser, and they have no plans to add one.
However, the Ghost 2 Immobiliser is TASSA Approved. Autowatch is the company that makes the Ghost and they have teamed up with the TASSA organisation to vet Installers and provide higher standards.
This means that some Insurance companies will accept the Ghost as a valid security product, with some insisting a car is not Insured for theft without it. In this instance the Ghost will satisfy their requirements and tick the relevant box.
Essentially the Ghost is an excellent product and is ideal for cars that are high value and easily stolen. It is suited to many makes, including BMW, Range Rover, Jaguar, Honda, Ford and more. Modern cars with keyless entry, and comfort touch entry are particularly vulnerable, often being stolen in seconds.
The Ghost 2 stops thieves from easily starting the vehicle. We frequently hear back from customers who have had a ghost fitted. They tell us a neighbour’s car was taken, and our customer’s car was left unlocked. Meaning the thieves tried to steal their car and failed due to the Ghost.
Just remember if an Insurer specifies a Cat 2 then only a ‘Category 2: Electronic Immobiliser’ will do.
